I fired my boss!

today, I learned that a good friend of mine quit, he worked in a very well-known technology companies, many sharpening head to enter this company. I asked him why, originally expected to answer might be “I need a bigger challenge”, or “the position has been hold me, I need a bigger development space”, but he said “I’m fed up with my boss.

he said that let me associate it all just because of those who can’t stand the boss resigned. Work is exciting, the team is very harmonious, but the boss (manager) the last straw. In this case, you can see is the loss of good staff, management and all sat round the table to try to find out the crux of the brain drain, thinking method of retaining employees.

retain talent, this is the actual problem in front of all the managers. The key to retain good staff is not particularly about the boss offer their salary or how many/what kind of work, more important is the manager’s management method, and the employees in such managers working under a variety of feelings. Employees feel the own value in the team? The boss timely feedback for their demands? Whether they felt the superior leadership as head of a team/company for their support and help?

enterprise managers have the ability to influence the stratification of three-tier demand – safe, love & amp; The sense of belonging and respected. In a work space, the three-tier demand represent three different kinds of things. The first layer – security, refers to job security, career development, including health care, etc. Employees feel about their work is what kind of? They worry about every day under the atmosphere of the layoffs during the recession risk? Whether they felt the boss care about their health as relationship between their work?

the next level is the love and belonging. People hope to be a person feel different, want to be a part of the important things. As a boss, you in what way assignments, guiding staff, and their communication, shows you how to pay attention to their job performance. It is the responsibility of the boss, told employees, is their hard work to create a different, they are part of the company more prospects. For an employee, a bad thing is that they think they are just a machine in a screw.

the last layer is respected. Trusted and respected.

enterprise management is very important point is how to make the employees to work, to colleagues, managers have a positive feeling. Respected in the office, it is very important for employees, it may lead to a good employees to stay. The necessary training and guidance, let employees have the right life/work skills, it is very good way to inspire their self-confidence. To invest in staff body, provide their skills, for the company, the staff is good. Zig Ziglar once said that there is only one thing than training staff, training staff and then they leave you worse, that is you don’t train them, not to cultivate them, but they still remain.

a professor at Florida state university and his two PhD students conducted a survey research, with a focus on the study those who don’t respect and the ability to manager/boss of the negative impact. They surveyed 700 people working in different jobs, ask them to work the boss/supervisor/leader.

the study reveals the following results:

39% : the boss doesn’t keep promise, speak not calculate words

37% : the boss should give rewards don’t reward

31% : the boss treat employees is “cold treatment”.

27% : the superior manager/boss in front of other employees and managers says a bad word about them.

24% : the boss intrude on their privacy.

23% : the boss blame others to cover up their mistakes or embarrassed.

these problems can be viewed as a good checklist, used to examine the boss how to manage employees, because eventually resigned employees not because of the company, but because the manager or boss!
